Yakima School District Calendar 2026-2027

Yakima School District serves a large, predominantly Hispanic and multilingual city in the center of an agricultural valley. Neighborhood elementary and middle schools lead toward several high-school routes, yet the ninth-grade transition is organized through a balanced selection process. Incoming students identify preferences among A.C. Davis, Eisenhower, Stanton Academy and Yakima Online; sibling, disability and newcomer needs receive defined placement protections. The process gives families a voice while balancing enrollment across the city’s comprehensive schools.

Migrant and newcomer support is central to daily operations. Students can receive tutoring, basic-needs assistance, college and scholarship guidance, language development, transition help and culturally responsive teaching. The Health and Wellness Education Center adds physical and mental health care, case management, disease prevention and family education. These services recognize that attendance and academic progress are tied to health, mobility, language and household stability.

Yakima also serves as a regional technical-education center. YV-Tech draws students from the city and surrounding districts into hands-on programs linked to health care, fire science, construction, conservation, technology and other fields. Students apply through their high-school counselors and can divide the day between a home school and concentrated career training.

A Yakima student may move through a neighborhood school, a newcomer program, one of several high-school settings, the health center and YV-Tech during a single K–12 journey. The district’s identity lies in coordinating those places for a city whose families bring agricultural work, multiple languages and many different routes toward graduation.
