Wapato School District Calendar 2026-2027

Wapato’s elementary map is scheduled to change when the 2026–27 school year begins on August 25, 2026. Simcoe Elementary will serve preschool, transitional kindergarten and kindergarten; Camas Elementary will receive grades one through three; and Adams Elementary will carry grades four and five. Satus Elementary left the operating network in summer 2026 as demolition and construction began for a future consolidated elementary school. On August 8, the assignments were approved and only days from implementation.

The transition is designed to place children of the same grade together and give teachers more opportunity to coordinate curriculum, services and resources. It unfolds in a Lower Yakima Valley district where Spanish-English learning and family access already shape daily operations. The dual-language pathway is scheduled to serve transitional kindergarten through grade three in 2026–27, then add one grade each year, with middle-school continuation planned later.

Wapato Middle School and Wapato High School remain the common secondary route, while PACE High School and online learning provide smaller or more flexible settings. The replacement elementary campus belongs to a later opening, and the complete K–8 bilingual continuum remains under phased expansion. The 2026–27 year begins with an approved grade reconfiguration, an active construction site and a language pathway that will grow alongside the students already enrolled in it.
