Tenino School District Calendar 2026-2027

Tenino organizes childhood through four districtwide age communities. Parkside Elementary serves kindergarten through grade two, Tenino Elementary receives grades three through five, Tenino Middle carries grades six through eight, and Tenino High School begins in ninth grade. Each promotion moves a whole cohort into a new school, creating clear stages without parallel neighborhood feeders.

The surrounding watershed becomes a shared learning site during the middle grades. Seventh-graders test water quality at Scatter Creek and Tenino’s Mill Pond, examining conditions connected to salmon habitat and reporting results used by regional environmental partners. Eighth-graders have returned as peer teachers, helping younger students interpret water data, native and invasive plants, beaver activity and the health of the stream system. The work joins science, communication and public stewardship in places families already know.

High-school students can extend applied learning through New Market Skills Center in Tumwater. Participating juniors and seniors divide the day between Tenino High and a regional technical program while retaining local athletics, arts and graduation ties. The district’s age-center path gradually widens: children first move as one Tenino cohort, then use the watershed and regional partnerships to work with people and institutions beyond their own campus.
