Ocean Beach School District Calendar 2026-2027

Ocean Beach School District follows the length of the Long Beach Peninsula, serving communities such as Chinook, Ilwaco, Long Beach and Ocean Park. Long Beach and Ocean Park elementary schools preserve two local starting points. Students later meet at Hilltop Middle School and continue to Ilwaco High School, creating one secondary community for families separated by many miles of coastal road.

Fishing, tourism, hospitality and the Pacific environment shape both work and learning. Beaches, wetlands and the Columbia River estuary give science and community projects a local setting. At Ilwaco High, college and career planning connects students with dual credit and technical education. A required Career Exploration Experience sends students into a job shadow or informational interview, turning career planning into direct contact with adult work.

Music, athletics and activities give the peninsula a common Fishermen identity. Ocean Beach Options Academy adds a fully online grades 6–12 school for students who live in the district, allowing a teenager to remain in the local public system while completing the school day away from Hilltop or Ilwaco.

A new Black Lake grades 6–12 campus is an approved future project tied to the district's seismic-safety work. The current timeline places construction in summer 2027 and occupancy in fall 2029. It does not replace Hilltop or Ilwaco in 2026–27. Today's district remains two elementary communities feeding one coastal secondary route, with weather, distance and the seasonal economy present in everyday family life.
