North Franklin School District Calendar 2026-2027

Basin City, Connell and Mesa each keep an elementary school within North Franklin School District, preserving local identity across a wide irrigated farming region. Students later converge at Olds Junior High School and Connell High School. Long bus routes pass fields, food-processing operations and small settlements before reaching the common secondary schools; Palouse Junction High School provides a smaller setting for students who need a different pace or learning environment.

Language access is part of how this geographically dispersed system holds together. In a bilingual message to families in January 2025, the district affirmed that students are welcome regardless of citizenship or immigration status, that student information is protected and that the district does not ask families for immigration-status information. The statement addressed a practical concern for multilingual and migrant households whose participation depends on trust as well as transportation.

The same commitment reaches career and technical education. North Franklin uses an open-admissions policy for CTE and explicitly states that limited English proficiency cannot block participation in programs at Olds, Connell High or Palouse Junction. Students can develop academic English while entering agriculture, business, technology and other applied courses, then connect that work to dual credit or employment preparation. For North Franklin families, access means reaching the common schools and being able to use the opportunities once they arrive.
