123. Morton School District

Morton serves an eastern Lewis County community shaped by timber, mountain travel and the highway toward White Pass. Its local school path has three stages: Morton Elementary for preschool through grade four, Morton Intermediate for grades five and six, and Morton Junior/Senior High School, where seventh-graders remain through graduation. The intermediate and junior/senior high programs share the Westlake site, so students change school identity and expectations while remaining in the same campus area.

The schools are among the main public gathering places for families spread across the foothills. Performances, games, fundraisers and service projects bring children, teenagers and residents into the same spaces. Winter roads and long travel distances can complicate access to programs elsewhere, which gives Morton's complete local route practical weight: students can move from their first classroom to graduation without leaving the community.

Agricultural science, the school shop and FFA connect biology, mechanics and leadership with the land and industries around Morton. Business courses and FBLA add finance, entrepreneurship and competition, while music, athletics and student activities keep the secondary years from narrowing to one practical track. A small staff may adjust individual offerings from year to year, but the shared campus keeps those opportunities visible as students move into credits and graduation planning.
