Central Kitsap School District Calendar 2028-2029

Central Kitsap schools serve Silverdale, central Kitsap County neighborhoods and communities closely tied to the Navy and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Nearly half of the district’s students have a family member in the military or employed at the shipyard, making arrivals, deployments and transfers a routine part of school life. Military-family counselors and Navy partnerships help students carry records, relationships and support across those changes.

Most children move from a neighborhood elementary school to Central Kitsap, Fairview or Ridgetop Middle School and then to Central Kitsap High School or Olympic High School. The Klahowya attendance area follows another regular route: Klahowya Secondary School keeps grades six through twelve in one institution. That difference gives families two versions of adolescence inside the same district—separate middle and high-school campuses in most areas, and a continuous seven-year secondary community around Seabeck and western portions of the boundary.

The comprehensive schools offer Advanced Placement, locally taught college-credit courses, Running Start and career and technical pathways. CTE courses range from marketing and technology to health and sports medicine, developing academic, technical and leadership skills while giving students several ways to satisfy graduation pathways. Athletics, arts, clubs and career centers help students build a community around those choices.

Barker Creek Community School provides a K–12 virtual route for families seeking another daily structure. It adds flexibility to a district already shaped by movement: military families arrive and depart, students from different elementary communities merge, and some remain together from sixth grade through graduation at Klahowya. Counselors, teachers, activities and district records provide continuity even when a family changes duty station, a cohort changes campus or a student changes learning model.
