Grandview School District Calendar 2026-2027

Grandview School District serves a Lower Yakima Valley city where Spanish and English, agricultural work and long family ties are all present in school life. Arthur H. Smith, Harriet Thompson and McClure elementary schools preserve three early communities before students meet at Grandview Middle School and Grandview High School. That progression gives children a local elementary identity and later creates one Greyhound secondary community.

Family support begins before kindergarten. Early Steps serves children from birth through age two with playgroups, story hours, parent groups and home visits. Migrant and multilingual programs continue that relationship through preschool, health referrals, family involvement, summer learning, leadership opportunities, credit accrual and dropout prevention. Advocates at the middle and high schools help students maintain academic continuity when agricultural work or mobility affects the household.

The 80:20 Spanish-English dual-language pathway, introduced in fall 2024, begins at all three elementary schools and grows by one grade with each cohort. Spanish carries most early instruction while English increases over time, allowing biliteracy to develop inside the same neighborhood schools used by the wider district.

At Grandview High, FFA, FCCLA and DECA connect agriculture, family and consumer sciences, business and leadership with competition and service. The no-cost 21st Century program adds tutoring, robotics, powerlifting and activities led with local experts and mentors. A Grandview student can enter the public-school relationship as a toddler, develop two academic languages in elementary school and later use clubs, technical study and extended-day support in the high-school years.
