White River School District Calendar 2026-2027

White River School District joins the Buckley plateau with the foothill community of Wilkeson and rural areas approaching Mount Rainier. Elk Ridge, Foothills, Mountain Meadow and Wilkeson preserve four elementary communities before students meet at Glacier Middle School and White River High School. Wilkeson Elementary gives the network a visible historical anchor: the school was built in 1913, has been modernized for current instruction and still serves first through fifth grade at the foot of the mountain.

The common middle and high schools bring those communities into one Hornets identity. White River organizes student opportunity around academics, athletics, activities and the arts, allowing the comprehensive high school to support advanced coursework, music, performance, clubs and career preparation within one shared secondary destination. A child who begins in historic Wilkeson or a newer Buckley-area neighborhood eventually joins the same districtwide stage.

Schools also function as recreational infrastructure for families. The district-run Community Activities Program coordinates youth sports, before- and after-school care, summer camp, drama and seasonal activities. That arrangement keeps family programming connected to school facilities and staff while extending the day beyond classroom hours. White River’s character comes from the meeting of old foothill communities, growing residential areas and a school system that carries both formal education and much of the region’s organized youth life.
