Tukwila School District Calendar 2026-2027

Tukwila’s community and family liaisons do not remain in one central office. Staff who speak Burmese, Karen, Thai, Nepali, Hindi, Punjabi, Dzongkha, Somali and Spanish rotate through the district’s five schools on scheduled days. They help families with enrollment, meetings, transportation, meals and connections to community services in a city where students bring more than eighty home languages to school.

Cascade View, Thorndyke and Tukwila elementary schools feed Showalter Middle School and Foster High School. The district sits beside SeaTac Airport, major interstate routes, Boeing facilities and the Southcenter employment area, so households may arrive through immigration, refugee resettlement or jobs that cross the region. Language access helps students enter a stable school path while adults learn how local public education works.

Cascade View adds a Spanish-English dual-language route that began in 2023 and is expanding by cohort. Spanish carries most instruction in the earliest grades before the model moves toward a more even balance. The district can also arrange phone, video, in-person or document interpretation in more than two hundred languages. In Tukwila, multilingual communication is school infrastructure: it determines whether a compact five-school system can function as one public community.
