209. Stevenson-Carson School District #303

Stevenson-Carson School District serves Columbia River Gorge communities including Stevenson, Carson, North Bonneville, Home Valley and Stabler. Carson Elementary carries transitional kindergarten through sixth grade, Wind River Middle School serves grades seven and eight, and Stevenson High School begins in ninth grade. Mountain roads, river weather and forest communities shape transportation across the district’s long east-west service area.

Carson Elementary gives the early and middle childhood years a program of their own. The school provides music, physical education and one-to-one Chromebook access, and students help tend a garden connected to the region’s natural setting. Student Council organizes school spirit and community work such as Earth Day projects. The school has also received Washington recognition for student growth. Wind River remains the current grades 7–8 stage in 2026–27, keeping the existing transition in place while the district studies longer-term structural and financial questions separately.

Forest Youth Success gives local teenagers paid or structured work experience tied to Skamania County. Participants develop teamwork, leadership and problem-solving while working in the landscape that has supported the region’s timber and recreation economies. The program turns the surrounding forest into a workplace and a source of civic responsibility, carrying students beyond the classroom while keeping their work rooted in the Gorge community.
