Renton School District Calendar 2027-2028

Renton School District serves a multilingual south King County corridor shaped by aerospace, manufacturing, health care and rapid urban change. Neighborhoods extend from the City of Renton into Skyway and West Hill, and students eventually join several high-school communities, including Renton, Hazen and Lindbergh, with Talley providing a smaller alternative setting. Many students receive multilingual learner services, making interpretation and family communication part of ordinary district work.

The aerospace and industrial economy appears through direct experience. Summer internships connect students with Boeing, the Port of Seattle and King County programs. Manufacturing, engineering, robotics, construction, health science and visual communication pathways bring industry tools and mentors into courses, while the Renton Job Shadow Network introduces students to the daily work of local professionals.

Language learning has its own geographic development. Talbot Hill Elementary began a Spanish-English dual-language pathway in 2024 and is adding one grade each year. The Renton Innovation Zone focuses additional partnerships and extended learning on five elementary communities in Skyway and West Hill, where schools work with local organizations to address opportunities beyond the regular day.

A Renton student may pass an aircraft plant on the way to school, speak a home language other than English, and complete a job shadow in an industry already present in the neighborhood. The district's scale turns the surrounding city into a network of workplaces, community programs and several distinct school identities.
