Rainier School District Calendar 2026-2027

Rainier's three schools sit close together in a small south Thurston County town within commuting distance of Olympia and Tacoma. Rainier Elementary, Middle and High School give families a straightforward local progression, and Mountaineer concerts, athletics, clubs and community events keep the different age groups visible to one another. Students can grow through graduation without leaving the town's school system.

Several high-school programs produce work that residents can see. Floral-design students use the greenhouse and school floral shop, robotics teams compete through FIRST programs, and shop courses move from basic tools into larger fabrication projects. These activities place students in roles as designers, builders and organizers, while college-preparatory classes, Spanish, art and ceramics give the small high school a broader academic life.

Running Start and New Market Skills Center extend the schedule beyond Rainier when students seek college courses or technical fields that require regional facilities. The district's proximity to larger cities opens those routes while preserving a home school where staff and families know one another across years.

All three school buildings were undergoing major construction work during summer 2026, limiting access while improvements were underway. The projects affected the physical setting, though the operating three-school progression remained intact for 2026–27. Students were preparing to return to the same Mountaineer community while the work continued around their shared schools.
