Pullman Public Schools Calendar 2027-2028

Pullman Public Schools operate inside a university town where families arrive from across the United States and the world. Franklin, Jefferson, Kamiak and Sunnyside elementary schools feed Lincoln Middle School and Pullman High School. Children from long-established Palouse families share classrooms with students whose parents have come to Washington State University for study, research or employment, creating regular movement as well as unusual cultural breadth.

The university is close enough to become a working partner. Washington State University programs connect schools with mentors, civic-engagement projects, teacher preparation, research and family resources. The Center for Civic Engagement's Adopt-a-School work brings university volunteers into local schools, while other partnerships support science, wellness and resilience. Multicultural events can draw directly on WSU's international community.

Pullman's arts, athletics and academic programs benefit from that setting, yet the district maintains its own Cougar school identities and community traditions. Students can take advanced and college-linked courses, perform for town audiences and join clubs that use university expertise without turning the K–12 system into an extension of WSU.

The district's land acknowledgement places Pullman's schools on the homelands of the Nimiipuu people, setting a globally connected college town within a much older Palouse history. A Pullman student can encounter both scales in one school year: a local elementary tradition, a university laboratory or mentor, and a reminder of the people whose relationship with this land predates the city and campus.
