Olympia School District Calendar 2026-2027

Olympia School District serves more than nine thousand students in Washington's state capital. Neighborhood elementary schools feed four comprehensive middle schools and then Capital or Olympia High School. State government, colleges, arts organizations and environmental groups surround the district, giving students access to civic, cultural and scientific partners across Olympia and the Budd Inlet area.

The two comprehensive high schools have different advanced-program anchors. Olympia High sustains extensive Advanced Placement offerings, while Capital High hosts the International Baccalaureate program. Career and technical education reaches business, health, engineering, media, culinary work, natural resources and skilled fields. New Market Skills Center adds regional half-day training, and fine arts, theater, film, music, athletics and student publications have visible roles across the secondary system.

Native Education supports eligible students, and Capital High's land acknowledgement places the west Olympia community within the traditional homelands of the Squaxin Island Tribe and the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation. The capital-city setting also creates routes into public service, environmental study and community partnerships.

Avanti High School provides a smaller secondary community. Olympia Regional Learning Academy includes Montessori, online and home-partnership models, while Transition Academy serves students beyond the conventional high-school sequence. In 2026, long-term enrollment, facilities, educational priorities and a possible future bond remained under active study. Current schools continued operating while the district considered how its network could serve students over the coming decades.
