Ocosta School District #172 Calendar 2026-2027

Ocosta School District serves Westport, Grayland and nearby South Beach communities where fishing, tourism, severe weather and the Pacific Ocean influence daily life. Ocosta Elementary and Ocosta Junior/Senior High School share a campus area south of Westport, allowing students to remain in one Wildcat community from the early grades through graduation. Concerts, athletics and school events bring several small coastal towns to the same educational center.

The campus is also a landmark in public safety. Completed in 2016, the reinforced refuge above the elementary gym was North America's first tsunami vertical-evacuation structure built into a school. It gives students and surrounding residents a place to reach high ground when there is too little time to travel inland. Drills and hazard education make coastal science and civic responsibility part of ordinary school life.

Music begins in the elementary years and continues beside secondary art, athletics, career and technical education and college planning. Open Doors provides a reengagement route for eligible older students. Ocosta's identity is inseparable from the coast: local livelihoods shape career questions, the ocean shapes emergency preparation, and one compact campus gives South Beach families both a school community and a piece of life-safety infrastructure.
