142. Northshore School District

Northshore grew from the 1959 consolidation of the Bothell and Woodinville school districts. It now serves more than twenty-two thousand students across Bothell, Kenmore, Woodinville and unincorporated parts of King and Snohomish counties. Twenty elementary schools feed six middle schools and four comprehensive high schools. The network includes mature lake-area neighborhoods, older town centers and newer development near the district's northern edge; North Creek High School opened there in fall 2017 as enrollment growth reshaped the map.

The four high schools remain community anchors while some opportunities cross attendance lines. Advanced Placement is available at all four, and Inglemoor's International Baccalaureate program is open to Northshore students from across the district. Certain career and technical courses operate only at designated sites, so a student may keep a home-high-school identity while traveling or scheduling part of the day around a districtwide program. North Creek's newer northern community, Inglemoor's IB tradition and the longer histories of Bothell and Woodinville give the high-school network several distinct centers, each rooted in a different part of the district.

Northshore's families speak well over one hundred languages. The Family Engagement and Resource Center helps immigrant and multilingual households navigate enrollment, meals, conferences, graduation requirements, financial-aid forms and other parts of public education; interpretation and translation are available without charge. Woodin Elementary's Spanish-English dual-language program builds biliteracy inside a neighborhood school, while Northshore Family Partnership and Northshore Online Academy create smaller public-school communities with different weekly arrangements.

Most children still know Northshore first through a nearby elementary school and the middle and high school connected to their address. The district's larger scale becomes visible when a teenager crosses the network for IB or a specialized course, or when a newly arrived family uses language and resource support to enter a system spanning two counties.
