North Kitsap School District Calendar 2026-2027

Two sovereign tribal partners and a large military population are central to North Kitsap School District. The district serves Poulsbo, Kingston and the northern Kitsap Peninsula within the homelands of the Suquamish Tribe and Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe. More than one in five students comes from a military household, bringing deployments, moves and record transfers into ordinary school life.

Neighborhood elementary and middle schools lead to North Kitsap High School or Kingston High School. The two campuses retain separate Viking and Buccaneer traditions while sharing access to districtwide academic, arts and career resources.

Partnerships with both tribes place local history, culture and contemporary sovereignty inside the educational landscape. Native education staff and family engagement support eligible students and help all learners understand the communities whose land they share. Military-family services address another form of continuity, helping students enter classes and activities after frequent relocations.

Students encounter career and technical courses from the middle years onward, with the program expanding through both high schools. Engineering, health sciences, business, technology and skilled trades can lead into West Sound Technical Skills Center, Olympic College and dual-credit courses. Ferries, naval employment, tribal communities and maritime life all shape the peninsula around these pathways. North Kitsap students grow through one of two high-school communities while remaining connected to a district defined by tribal partnership, military service and regional technical access.
