Mount Vernon School District Calendar 2027-2028

Mount Vernon School District serves a growing, multilingual city at the center of the Skagit Valley. Six elementary schools feed two middle schools and then Mount Vernon High School, bringing together children from city neighborhoods, agricultural areas and families connected to the valley's food, health-care and manufacturing economy. Translated communication and English-language development are part of everyday participation across the system.

Spanish-English dual-language education has become a long-term route through the district. Madison Elementary carries a full transitional-kindergarten-through-fifth-grade pathway that continues at LaVenture Middle School. For 2026–27, Little Mountain and Washington elementary schools begin new entry cohorts in transitional kindergarten and kindergarten, with the programs designed to grow one grade at a time. The expansion is active for the new school year; it has not yet created a complete upper-elementary sequence at those two schools.

Mount Vernon High combines college-preparatory study with agriculture, manufacturing, health care, information technology, business and other career pathways. Courses can carry dual credit through Skagit Valley College, and the Northwest Career & Technical Academy adds specialized regional training.

Aspire Academy provides a smaller secondary environment, while Skagit Academy supports family-directed public education. Those options sit around a common district core: neighborhood elementary schools, two middle schools, one comprehensive high school and a language program now spreading through ordinary feeder schools across multiple campuses.
