Longview Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Longview’s neighborhood route divides across eight elementary schools, three middle schools and two comprehensive high schools, R. A. Long and Mark Morris. Students can follow a traditional attendance route from their neighborhood through graduation, with districtwide music, athletics and career programs expanding as they enter the secondary grades. Orchestra begins in middle school, while high-school ensembles, theater and visual arts give both comprehensive campuses a strong performing-arts presence.

Career and technical education reaches into health sciences, business, engineering, manufacturing, technology, culinary work and other applied fields. Students may use dual-credit courses and regional partnerships to connect high-school work with college or industry preparation. The two comprehensive schools preserve distinct histories and activity cultures, yet they draw from the same citywide system and share access to many district resources.

Longview also operates smaller routes for students seeking a different campus day. Discovery High School provides an in-person alternative high-school setting. Longview Virtual Academy serves grades six through twelve through home-based online instruction taught by district educators, with support available remotely or by appointment. Virtual students may still participate in district electives, sports and clubs. These options expand the way a Longview student can complete school while keeping public-school teachers, records and graduation requirements inside the district.
