Hockinson School District Calendar 2026-2027

Hockinson School District grew around a rural Clark County community that now sits on the edge of rapid suburban expansion. Hockinson Heights Elementary, Hockinson Middle and Hockinson High form one clear local progression, and school concerts, athletics, festivals and volunteer projects remain major community gatherings. The district’s small number of campuses gives families continuity, even as enrollment pressure has made daily life at the elementary school increasingly crowded.

Community support is especially visible at the high school. A new Skilled Trades Center is projected to open in fall 2026 with space for framing, construction, plumbing and electrical work. Local benefactors, foundations, contractors and parent volunteers assembled the funding after a bond proposal failed, allowing the project to proceed without drawing from the district’s limited operating budget. Demand for CTE had risen more than forty percent from 2021 to 2025, so the building responds to a real student interest in practical, employment-connected learning.

The district has also approved a future grade change. Hockinson Heights remains a TK–5 school in 2026–27, with grades six through eight at the middle school. Beginning in 2027–28, fifth grade will move to Hockinson Middle, providing temporary relief to an elementary campus serving more than 900 students. The change belongs to the next school year. Hockinson’s present story is larger than that transition: a close community is using local participation to expand hands-on learning while managing the pressures that come with growth.
