Kelso School District No. 458 Calendar 2026-2027

Kelso School District serves a Cowlitz County community where river transportation, timber, manufacturing and small-city life have long overlapped. Six elementary schools feed Coweeman or Huntington middle school, and the regular routes meet at Kelso High School. The progression gives neighborhoods their own early identities while creating one shared high-school community for athletics, arts, graduation and civic events. Kelso High’s career program reflects both traditional local industries and newer fields. Students can study agricultural science, business and marketing, family and consumer sciences, health sciences, skilled and technical subjects and STEM. Welding, automotive work, woodshop, culinary arts and computer-aided design turn the high school into a place where students make, repair, design and present tangible work. FFA activities, including the annual plant sale, carry agricultural learning into the community.

College in the High School, Advanced Placement and regional training give students routes beyond the local course sequence. Loowit High School provides a smaller in-person setting, and Kelso Virtual Academy supports students completing public-school work from home. Those programs widen access without replacing the neighborhood system. Kelso’s main educational story remains one citywide feeder with a comprehensive high school capable of connecting local work traditions, creative programs and college preparation under a single Hilanders identity.
