Green Mountain School District Calendar 2026-2027

Green Mountain School District operates one K–8 campus among the tall trees of north Clark County, roughly halfway between Woodland and Amboy. The school serves a dispersed rural population. Most children arrive by bus; the district has no neighborhood walking network. For nine years, the same campus provides the common setting for academics, meals, performances, sports and family events. Small scale changes how learning is organized. Core work in reading, writing, mathematics, science, history and physical education is supported by early intervention through Title I and learning-assistance services. Middle-grade students can take advanced work in mathematics, language arts and science while remaining in a school that still includes kindergarteners. An art room, stage and community programs give the building cultural uses beyond the ordinary classroom day, and freshly prepared meals add another point of daily connection.

Green Mountain ends after eighth grade. During the final local year, students use their High School and Beyond Plan to identify a receiving high school in the surrounding region. The move introduces a larger course catalog, new activities and a different district calendar, while younger siblings remain at Green Mountain. That eventual departure is part of the school’s identity, but it does not overshadow the years before it. The district’s value lies in maintaining a complete rural elementary and middle-grade community in a forested area where distance would otherwise separate families from public education.
