Chehalis School District Calendar 2026-2027

Chehalis organizes its ordinary school path as a sequence shared by the whole city. James W. Lintott Elementary serves kindergarten through second grade, Orin C. Smith Elementary receives grades three through five, Chehalis Middle School carries grades six through eight, and W. F. West High School completes the route. Students change buildings as a cohort, and the Bearcat identity grows across citywide age groups without separate neighborhood feeder systems dividing them.

The district’s long-term academic work is organized around “75 by 35.” By the Class of 2035, Chehalis aims for 75 percent of graduates to earn a postsecondary degree or credential and for every graduate to feel prepared for the next step. That goal begins well before high school through literacy, family engagement and career awareness. At W. F. West, dual-credit courses, career and technical education, STEM laboratories, senior projects, college visits and advising turn the larger target into individual plans. Alumni and community partners contribute mentoring, scholarships, work connections and support for facilities and activities.

School life extends well beyond credential planning. Music, theater, athletics, student organizations and community service make the campuses gathering places for Chehalis families and alumni. The district also operates alternative, transition and institution-based education for students whose circumstances fall outside the ordinary feeder. Those responsibilities broaden its public role, while the main family experience remains a coherent K–12 progression shaped by strong local identity and a sustained effort to connect graduation with a viable adult future.
