Centerville School District Calendar 2026-2027

Centerville School occupies a site that has gathered this Klickitat County community for more than a century. The main building was completed in 1919 as a high school, while younger children still attended one-room schools across the countryside and some students arrived on horseback. Over the following decades, those smaller schools closed and elementary students moved into Centerville. In 1942 the campus became a grades 1–8 school, with high-school education shifting to Goldendale.

Today the district operates one K–8 school whose history remains part of its public life. The early parent-teacher association established hot lunch, purchased playground equipment and library books, organized concerts and created an annual Community Day. Current students inherit that tradition through assemblies, ASB activities and athletics in volleyball, football, basketball and track. Older children gain visible roles in a school where the gym, library and common spaces have served generations of local families.

High school still begins beyond the Centerville campus under the student’s current receiving arrangement. The move brings new transportation, courses, teams and graduation requirements, while younger siblings remain in the one-school district. Centerville’s identity is rooted in the years before that transition: a consolidated rural school created from scattered one-room classrooms, sustained in a century-old building and kept active through student leadership, sports and community participation.
