Burlington-Edison School District Calendar 2027-2028

Burlington-Edison joins the City of Burlington with the Skagit Valley communities around Bay View, Edison and Bow. West View Early Learning and Community Center now gives many families their first district connection through preschool programs and partner services. School-age children enter Bay View or Edison for the regular K–5 route, while Allen houses the district’s Spanish-English dual-language elementary pathway. All sixth- through eighth-graders then meet at Lucille Umbarger Middle School before continuing to Burlington-Edison High School.

The 2025 reconfiguration changed which grades use several familiar buildings, yet the district’s everyday work reaches well beyond that transition. Nearly one quarter of students qualify as multilingual learners, and all students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch. Language development, migrant education and bilingual family communication help children from farm, shoreline and town households participate in the same schools. The dual-language pathway carries Spanish and English literacy forward as elementary communities join the common middle-school stage.

At Burlington-Edison High School, health sciences and STEM sit beside agricultural education, skilled and technical programs, business and marketing, and family and consumer sciences. Theater productions, music, athletics and student organizations give the high school an equally public role. A child may enter through early learning at West View, grow in a neighborhood or dual-language elementary community, meet the full district at Lucille Umbarger and finish in a comprehensive high school where practical learning and performance share the calendar.
