Aberdeen School District Calendar 2026-2027

Aberdeen’s schools serve a Grays Harbor port city that also functions as a regional center for surrounding coastal communities. Five elementary schools carry neighborhood groups through fifth grade, Miller Junior High brings them together for grades six through eight, and Aberdeen High School—formally J. M. Weatherwax High School—becomes the common comprehensive destination. Music, theater, athletics and student organizations give families reasons to gather across that progression, while the high school’s identity remains closely tied to the wider Harbor.

Career education makes that regional role especially visible. Twin Harbors Skill Center operates with Aberdeen High as a branch of New Market Skills Center and draws students into concentrated programs such as automotive technology, electrical engineering and refrigeration, medical careers and cosmetology. These courses give older students access to professional equipment, college credit and industry preparation that a single conventional timetable could not supply. A student can spend part of the day in specialized training while retaining a home-school connection to academics, activities and graduation planning.

Aberdeen also maintains smaller and more flexible routes through Harbor Junior/Senior High, Grays Harbor Academy and Open Doors. Their schedules and entry processes differ from the neighborhood feeder, yet they belong to the same public system. For an Aberdeen family, the district can mean a familiar citywide K–12 path, a smaller setting when the standard schedule stops working, or technical training shared with young people from across Grays Harbor.
