Waitsburg School District Calendar 2026-2027

Waitsburg School District keeps its local path compact: preschool through sixth grade at Waitsburg Elementary, followed by grades seven through twelve at Waitsburg Secondary School. The two schools serve a small agricultural community where transportation, preschool, activities and staffing depend heavily on local support. The voter-approved levy in place through 2026 helps fund smaller classes, athletics, extracurricular programs, after-school opportunities, technology, nutrition and bus service.

A February 2024 Amazing Shake competition shows one way the district turns a small-school setting into preparation for unfamiliar public situations. Preston Hall students practiced interviews, handshakes, eye contact, manners and composure before judges; Waitsburg won the regional event, and seven students advanced to the national competition in Atlanta. The date matters: this was a documented 2024 experience, not a newly launched 2026 program.

For 2026–27, Waitsburg Secondary is also beginning a school-day phone expectation that keeps personal devices stored from the first bell through dismissal. The stated purpose is to protect discussion, collaboration and face-to-face relationships. From elementary classrooms to a secondary school where students rehearse professional communication and daily independence, Waitsburg places increasing responsibility on how young people participate with others.
