Spokane Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Spokane Public Schools serves Washington’s second-largest city through neighborhood schools that reflect the city’s north side, south hill, central neighborhoods and growing edges. Elementary and middle-school communities feed several comprehensive high schools, while option, alternative and choice programs create additional routes. The district’s work is closely tied to public libraries, parks, recreation and neighborhood organizations through the Together Spokane initiative.

Students and families use more than eighty languages, making interpretation, newcomer support and culturally responsive family communication part of ordinary district operations. Native Education serves students across schools and connects learning with the region’s tribal history and contemporary Native communities. These systems help a large urban district maintain relationships that cannot be supplied by one central office alone.

Spokane’s high schools combine broad academic, artistic and athletic programs with citywide career learning. NEWTech Prep brings students from across the region into concentrated technical courses, and partnerships with health care, manufacturing and other local employers extend learning into workplaces. Students can remain anchored in a neighborhood high school while spending part of the day in a specialized program.

The district’s scale is visible in the number of schools, but its daily identity is built neighborhood by neighborhood. A student may use a nearby park, a city library, a Native education event, a career center and a comprehensive high school during the same year. Spokane’s public institutions repeatedly overlap in the student experience.
