Soap Lake School District Calendar 2026-2027

Soap Lake School District is a compact two-school system in a city known for its mineral lake and, since 2025, a state-certified creative district. Its grade configuration is changing for 2026–27. Soap Lake Elementary will serve kindergarten through grade five, while sixth grade moves into the middle/high building with grades seven through twelve. The district links the move to space for elementary growth, additional student-support rooms and fuller sixth-grade participation in middle-school athletics, ASB and extracurricular activities.

That change gives students a longer shared route inside the middle/high campus. Sixth-graders can begin using secondary activities and support structures before moving into high-school credits, leadership and graduation planning in the same building. When attendance barriers threaten progress, a Community Engagement Board brings school and community partners together to help a family address the underlying problem before court involvement becomes necessary.

Several flexible programs surround the two physical schools. Pathways Learning serves K–8 families able to take an active daily role while a certificated mentor oversees a public-school plan. The district’s online program serves grades six through twelve with flexible pacing, certified Soap Lake teachers, regular check-ins and access to activities. Open Doors supports eligible young people ages sixteen through twenty-one who are working toward a diploma or GED through an individualized plan. These routes respond to family, medical, work and re-engagement needs while keeping students connected to Soap Lake staff, records and community life.
