Pomeroy School District Calendar 2026-2027

Wheat fields and ranch country surround Pomeroy, the county seat of sparsely populated Garfield County. Pomeroy Elementary and Pomeroy Junior/Senior High School give children a local route from their first classroom through graduation. School concerts, athletics, FFA events and county traditions gather families who may live many miles apart on farms and rural roads.

The high-school agriculture sequence has moved beyond a generic shop program. Students begin with animal science, agricultural mechanics and FFA record keeping, then can enter Precision Agriculture and Engineering. Robotics, SolidWorks drafting, 3D printing and engineering design place digital tools beside the machinery and production systems familiar in local agriculture. Agribusiness and advanced mechanics carry the sequence into marketing, leadership, machining, engines and fabrication.

That progression allows a student to examine the local economy at several scales: an animal, a machine part, a three-dimensional model or the business moving a crop to market. Music, athletics, academic courses and college-credit opportunities remain part of the same junior/senior high school. Pomeroy's small size keeps the entire sequence visible; younger students can watch older classmates present at FFA, build in the shop or leave for a competition long before choosing those courses themselves.
