Meridian School District Calendar 2026-2027

Meridian links a local three-school progression north of Bellingham with a statewide home-based program. Local students move from Irene Reither Elementary School to Meridian Middle School and then Meridian High School, giving the district one shared secondary route after the elementary years. Agriculture remains visible in the surrounding landscape, while residential growth and proximity to Bellingham have broadened the range of family backgrounds and postsecondary plans.

Meridian High combines college-preparatory courses with career and technical pathways, athletics, arts and student leadership. Students can earn dual credit on campus, study at a college through Running Start or enter regional skill-center programs for advanced and specialized work. Current partnerships give access to fields such as welding and fire science beyond the ordinary campus timetable. A larger Whatcom County skills-center initiative remains under development and belongs to the district’s future planning.

Meridian Parent Partnership Program creates a statewide K–8 public option centered on the home. Parents organize much of the daily instruction, while district teachers supply plans, resources, professional guidance and progress monitoring. Students may live well outside the local attendance area and know Meridian mainly through online communication, materials and program gatherings. MP3 ends after eighth grade, and statewide participants make a new enrollment decision for secondary school. The district thus joins one local K–12 feeder with a much more dispersed community of parent-partnership families.
