Mary M. Knight School District Calendar 2026-2027

A single PreK–12 campus gives the Matlock and Brady communities their local school from first entry to graduation. Within that school, the educational setting still changes as children grow: elementary students spend more of the day with classroom teachers, while secondary students move among subject courses, credits, athletics and career planning. Shared specialists and schoolwide events keep the age groups connected without erasing those academic stages.

Career education is especially visible in construction, entrepreneurship and work-based learning. Students have used shop and design skills for projects tied to local history, including signs marking former school sites during the district’s centennial. Pathway to Employment gives juniors and seniors structured experience with workplace expectations, while Running Start opens college coursework beyond the campus. SkillsUSA and other activities carry technical work into leadership and competition.

Mary M. Knight’s one-campus model lets a small community maintain its own high school through graduation. Teachers often know families across many years, and older students remain present as younger children take part in performances, athletics and community gatherings. Local continuity is paired with outside routes to college and employment, giving students both a stable home school and reasons to look beyond it before graduation.
