Cascade School District Calendar 2027-2028

Cascade School District follows the Upper Wenatchee Valley through Leavenworth, Peshastin, Dryden, Plain and the rural corridors between them. Peshastin-Dryden Elementary serves the earliest grades in one part of the valley, Alpine Lakes continues the Leavenworth elementary sequence and Beaver Valley gives Plain-area children a K–5 community of their own. Students later meet at Icicle River Middle School and Cascade High School, where separate valley routes become one secondary community.

Outdoor learning runs across the district and extends far beyond occasional field trips. Cascade was recognized as Washington’s 2025 Green Ribbon district for reducing environmental impact, supporting health and wellness and integrating sustainability into education. Its FieldSTEM work takes science, technology, engineering and mathematics outdoors, using the Cascade Mountains, Wenatchee River and local ecosystems for career-connected, real-world problems. Students encounter ecology, renewable energy, land stewardship and environmental decision-making across several schools.

The secondary program connects that local setting with wider futures. Cascade High maintains career pathways in natural resources, health science, fire science, hospitality and tourism, computer science, business, visual arts and other fields, with opportunities for college credit or industry preparation. Discovery School operates on the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery grounds, where a smaller high-school group can work with biologists, technical staff and community organizers through mentorships, job shadows and experiential learning.

Home Link gives K–8 families a home-centered public option with weekly outdoor classes in areas such as botany, orienteering, wilderness first aid, leadership and ecology. Kodiak Virtual Academy adds another delivery model. These choices sit beside a regular valley school system whose strongest common thread is visible across grade levels: students learn in, with and about the mountain environment that surrounds their communities.
