Brinnon School District #46 Calendar 2026-2027

Brinnon School stands along Hood Canal between the Dosewallips River and the Olympic forests. The town’s population rises during the tourism season, elk commonly move through local roads and Highway 101 connects homes spread along the canal. Brinnon’s TK–8 campus gives children a nearby public school in a community where distance from larger towns affects transportation, services and family routines.

The school uses regional partnerships to enlarge what a small campus can provide. Every student has a school laptop, technology instruction occurs several days each week and classrooms use digital tools for research, writing and presentations. The district belongs to the Cooperative Libraries of the Eastern Olympics, so students can request materials from several libraries and receive weekly deliveries through the Jefferson County Rural Library bookmobile. After-school 4-H, music visits, recreation programs, Title I support and community volunteers add learning and activities that would be difficult to maintain through local staffing alone.

Brinnon Virtual Academy provides a resident K–8 remote option, while the physical campus remains the ordinary local route. After eighth grade, students enter a receiving high-school system; Quilcene is the principal current destination identified by the district, although individual arrangements can differ. The transition changes courses, transportation, activities and the calendar. It follows nine years in a school whose technology, library access and community partnerships are organized around keeping education available on the Hood Canal shore.
