Almira School District Calendar 2026-2027

Almira’s rebuilt school now serves two connected communities under one roof. Local children begin in Almira Elementary, while the same campus houses Almira/Coulee-Hartline Middle School for students from both cooperative districts. The permanent building opened in 2023 after the 2021 fire and years in temporary facilities, restoring a school center where elementary families and a wider middle-school cohort meet every day.

Current school life reaches well beyond the cooperative’s organizational chart. Elementary students work through monthly character themes and hands-on science, mathematics and reading activities. Middle-school students take public roles through TED-style speeches, yearbook production, Washington State history trips and athletics. FBLA service work has carried student planning beyond the campus, with a regional shoe drive using collection points in Almira, Coulee City, Grand Coulee and Ephrata. These activities let younger children see the work they can grow into while middle-school students remain visible to the town that hosts them.

High school moves to Coulee City, where the cooperative provides a larger peer group, broader activities and a shared Warrior identity. Almira still keeps its own board, elementary community and local responsibilities. A student’s route changes gradually: a hometown elementary beginning, a two-district middle school in Almira and a cooperative high school in Coulee City. The arrangement expands secondary education without removing the school from the center of Almira life.
