Mead School District Calendar 2026-2027

North of Spokane, Mead combines a large network of neighborhood schools with a wide range of district-run learning options. Elementary schools feed Northwood, Mountainside and Highland middle schools, and most students continue to Mead High School or Mt. Spokane High School. The two comprehensive high schools anchor distinct attendance communities while sharing districtwide expectations, athletics, arts and access to advanced coursework.

Career and technical education is a major part of the secondary program. Project Lead the Way courses carry students from introductory engineering and design into fields such as civil engineering, architecture, aerospace and capstone work. Health sciences, business, manufacturing, agriculture, computer science and skilled trades add other routes, with dual credit and regional partnerships connecting high-school study to college or industry credentials.

Mead Learning Options serves students whose week needs a different shape. North Star School and the Five Mile Prairie programs combine substantial home instruction with teacher mentoring, written plans and scheduled onsite experiences. Mead Virtual provides online high-school coursework, while Mead Outdoor School builds learning around outdoor and place-based experiences. Each program has its own age range, enrollment process and attendance expectations; the shared administrative name covers several distinct schools and learning models.

Most students move through a neighborhood elementary school, one of three middle schools and one of two comprehensive high schools. Other families organize the week through parent-partnership classes, online coursework or outdoor learning. Each route changes who directs daily instruction, how often the student comes to campus and which staff maintain the learning plan, while the student remains connected to Mead’s public-school system.
