Highline Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Highline Public Schools follows the shoreline, airport corridor and urban neighborhoods of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac and White Center. More than 17,500 students attend eighteen elementary schools, five middle schools and four comprehensive high schools, with seven choice schools adding districtwide routes. The communities differ in housing, transportation and income, yet they share a school system shaped by migration, international travel and dozens of home languages.

Bilingualism is treated as an academic asset. Elementary dual-language students receive half of their instruction in English and half in Spanish or Vietnamese, then secondary courses continue literacy and content study in those languages where staffing and enrollment allow. The rebuilt Evergreen High School was designed to reflect White Center’s multilingual, multicultural and community-centered identity.

Highline’s location creates unusually direct career connections. Raisbeck Aviation High School uses the aerospace industry surrounding the airport, while maritime studies and the Puget Sound Skills Center open other technical routes. Comprehensive high-school students can earn CTE dual credit through Highline College, Green River College and Renton Technical College.

Arts, athletics, family partnerships and culturally inclusive meals help each neighborhood campus develop its own sense of belonging. Choice schools expand the menu, but most families experience Highline through a neighborhood school serving a highly international community. The district’s strength comes from joining language development, local identity and career preparation across five cities tied to the wider Puget Sound region.
