56. Eatonville School District

Eatonville School District serves a wide stretch of the Mount Rainier foothills through two educational geographies. Eatonville and Weyerhaeuser elementary schools feed Eatonville Middle School and then Eatonville High School. Farther east, Columbia Crest A-STEM Academy keeps children in the Ashford area from preschool through eighth grade, preserving a local school for upper-valley communities that joined the district in 1951. Those students meet the wider district at the high-school stage.

Columbia Crest uses its setting near Mount Rainier as instructional infrastructure. Trails, gardens and greenhouse work connect with Sahara Creek, the Nisqually River and nearby public lands, giving science and engineering a visible place in the landscape. In the town-centered schools, band, athletics, clubs, chess, a hands-on farm experience and after-school enrichment create other ways for students to participate before the separate routes come together.

Eatonville High School becomes the shared destination for both the town and upper-valley communities. Career and technical study is organized with industry partners and can include job shadows, speakers, field visits, mentoring and internships. College-connected courses, arts, athletics and student organizations add paths that do not depend on where a child began. A Columbia Crest student may spend nine years in a nature-based PK–8 community, while another student changes into Eatonville Middle after fifth grade; both can finish in one high school whose programs reach across the rural foothill district.
